Good Heavens!

Hi everyone!  I’m sneaking a card in today before things get really crazy here.  Crazy in the sense that I get my fake gel nails put on today (for the wedding) and am not sure how much card making I’ll be able to do with them on! HA!  I remember getting fake nails for my wedding and I could barely do up buttons let alone peel any backing off of stickers or adhesive tape!  Let’s hope the new advancement in nails since 2007 have corrected this problem! LOL  Now, one thing I LOVE about having the summer off is spending Monday morning with a coffee and the PTI’s Make it Monday video.  Double bonus when it happens to be Dawn’s video {SMILE!}.  We were shown how to make a background with 2 different background stamps.  I went all vintage-y with Dawn’s newsprint set and a chicken wire background stamp.  Okay…I’m off to the gym and then for the mani/pedi.  I’ll let you know how the nails work in the studio.  AND if any of you have gel nails, how are they working for you while creating?  Thanks!

Remember This {day}

rememberthismaureenplut

Good morning!  It’s the Monday of a very busy week here, but I wanted to let you know (if you didn’t know already) that there is a whole lot of fun going on over on the Splitcoaststampers site.  The Dare to Get Dirty 2013 challenges are up and there are prizes from the Member companies, including Verve!   My card is for the one posted on Saturday…use any concept of time.  Well, my oldest sister is having her birthday on…yes, you guessed it, 8.18!  LOL  I thought this was the perfect opportunity to make another very personalized card using Verve’s Calendar Countdown and Remember This, both of which are on SALE now until July 31st.  AND I’ve used one of my Martha Stewart chalkboard tags…LOVE!  Easy to stamp onto with craft ink or write on with white pencil crayon.  I used my LAST piece of aqua seam binding ribbon from Verve’s Signature Collection…Whaaaaa!  I didn’t have enough to do the double bow, so I used another piece of tea stained aqua ribbon I had on hand :)  I like the subtle difference of the two ribbons.  Thanks for stopping by!

Good morning!  Do you ever see a challenge and say, “I cannot NOT play along”?  Well, that’s how it was for me when I saw the new Festive Friday colour challenge.  Silver, white and pink, puh-leeeaze!  Oh yummola!  I started throwing down bits of things on my desk and grabbed some old, er vintage, October Afternoon paper.  I had originally wanted pink poinsettias, but I won’t have this lovely shade of pink until my PTI order arrives next week.  So I went with grey, which I think I like better!  It’s totally unexpected!  Now, I have to tell you something funny about that paper doily…when the DH and I were on a quick little getaway a few weeks ago, we stopped in at the romantic bistro we had dinner at when we were first dating.  When they brought our drinks out, there were these sweet doilies on the plates!  I grabbed them up right away!  The DH thought I was crazy, but they were too cute to pass up!  AND score…I had two stuck together!  LOL  Hope your day is lovely…thanks for stopping by!

Good morning everyone!  It’s been a busy week as I run around getting the details planned and made for my bonus son’s rehearsal dinner next week.  I’m not going Martha Stewart crazy, but do want to have a few fun things around as we start the wedding festivities :)  I’ll take photos if they turn out! HA!  To help take my mind of my large to do list, I sat down to play along with this week’s Viva La Verve sketch AND inspiration photo…

VLVJul13Week5Inspo

How fun are these colours, patterns and images?  I love the “Share Your Toys” quote…although, Julee’s twins were very well behaved when we were there :)  I pulled out the colours, used some fun patterns and took the word “life” to help me make my card today.  Want to win some new VERVE?  Head over to the Viva La Verve forum and see how YOU could win $100 worth of Verve!  Have a fabulous weekend!

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop

To enter my 4th Blogiversary Blog Candy Giveaway,

scroll down to the next post!

Welcome to the July edition of the  Papertrey Ink Blog Hop.  We were asked to use one of the six colour palettes provided.  They were all versions of each other so it was hard to narrow it down.  I went with my first instinct… YUM!

fruitsofsummer

These colours remind me of Ms McVey…okay, ALL colours remind me of Dawn! LOL  By now everyone knows about my HUGE crush on Dawn…she even has an inspiration file on my computer!  I found a gorgeous card she made last month to help me with the colours.  I chose this card HERE to inspire me :)  I had to get some leaves in there so I used sahara sand and chocolate chip as neutrals so I could stay true to the colour palette.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  I always look forward to checking out what everyone came up with :)

Celebrating 4 Years of Blogging!

cupcake

Welcome to a very special post!  I’ve been blogging for 4 years and can’t let the day go by without having a little celebratory fun!  EEK! Where has the time gone!?  Well, take 1294 posts, multiply that by an average of 1 hour per card plus blogging time and that’s where the time has gone! LOL  But I’ve loved every single second of it!  I cringe when I look at that first post on July 25th, 2009…although, I’m happy to report my photography and card making skills have improved greatly since then ;)  And that’s what it’s all about…the journey, the process, the camaraderie with other card makers…BUT let’s get onto the FUN part of having an Anniversary…the presents!  In honour of the 4th Anniversary, I have 4 fun gifts to give away to 4 commenters!  Here they are…

1) A $50 gift certificate to the Verve Store, compliments of Julee, the owner, whose birthday happens to be today!  Thanks, Julee!

Now Join Hands & Hearts

joinhandsmaureenplut

Good morning!  I have a super fun post today!  I mentioned last year that my bonus son, Brian, and his girlfriend, Ashlee, got engaged.  Well, fast forward a year and a half later and you have us making the final countdown to the big day.  Yesterday was my future bonus daughter in law’s lingerie bridal shower (wow, that’s a mouthful!).  I knew I had to make a special and unique card for such an occasion.  I dug out one of my favourite love sentiments and then lifted this photo from Ashlee’s FB page.  I think it is perfect for this Shakespeare quote.  I also had fun wrapping up the gift.  When I heard it was a lingerie theme, “naughty” and “nice” popped into my head…with a little experience and wisdom from yours truly {wink, wink, HA!}.  Here are the bags and tags…you’ll have to use your imagination for the outfits that went into each bag! {wink again!}  Meow!

 IMG_7235

Here’s a little tip on making these tags…when I went to tie the “NAUGHTY” tag, it was upside down!  I had made it exactly the same way the “nice” was oriented, which meant it was upside down when tied to the other side!  Luckily the die cut letters had fresh glue so it was easy to peel them off, flip the tag over and re-adhere.  Phew!

Thanks for stopping by!  Come back tomorrow as I host Day 7 of the Verve Diva Dare!

greatestthingmaureenplut

Good morning, friends!  I had some free playtime in the studio yesterday so I pulled out another Clearly Besotted stamp set that was just released this month :)  I’m playing along with the current Clearly Besotted Challenge: Seeing Spots.  Here are the deets…

This week's challenge is....'Seeing Spots'! (please interpret as you wish)

A randomly selected entry will win four Clearly Besotted stamp sets and in order to qualify for the prize (open to everyone worldwide), please kindly adhere to the following:

  • Your crafty creation must contain at least one Clearly Besotted product.
  • It must be posted on your blog or an online gallery and linked below - direct link to post only please.
  • The closing date for entries is Tuesday 23rd July 2013 (11:55 GMT).

Oh, LOVE me some polka dots!  It’s always fun to flip through my patterned paper pads and find some lovely dots.  I’m using Pebbles Seen and Noted paper again. I just love those sweet little hearts on the red paper and thought they were perfect for this love sentiment from Love Quotes.  Head over to the Clearly Besotted blog to join in the fun and see some fabulous examples from the DT :)  Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful weekend!

Let Your Light So Shine

soshinemaureenplut

Good morning, friends!  The summer calendar says it’s Friday so I’m playing with the newest Viva La Verve sketch!  It’s fresh off the presses and over at the Viva La Verve forum under Week 4.  Janelle is stepping it up a few notches with a fun card with a twist on the front!  Let me tell you it was hard picking a border punch!

VLVJulWk4sketch

I pulled out some fun Pebbles paper, some lovely Verve seam binding, an uplifting sentiment, some staples and went to town!  There’s one more week after this one before you can load up all your cards into the Champion’s thread for a chance to win $100 in Verve bucks!  Check out all the fun details over in the Verve Forum.  THEN, if you haven’t already…check out the birthday sale in the Verve store!  Have a great start to your weekend!
